Indeed. Having realised from the outset that their own programming was muck and would continue to be so for the foreseeable future, TV3 took the initiative early on to blast RTE's grip on the nation's viewers out of the water. Their plan a simple one. Recruit the entire AA roadwatch presenting staff in what media circles are still calling the "Night of the long knives", when Lorraine Keane et al upped and left poor old Conor Faughnan at the roadwatch studios singing into his own mike. Literally. The girls must have realised they had better faces for TV.
